Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 in Development, Launch Unlikely in 2025

quickutilities – Samsung has reportedly started developing the Galaxy Ring 2, the follow-up to its first-generation smart ring launched in 2024. While earlier rumors suggested that Samsung might reveal the new device alongside the Galaxy S25 series during the Galaxy Unpacked event in January, that did not happen. A new report from Dutch outlet GalaxyClub confirms the Galaxy Ring 2 is still in the early development stage. This means the wearable may not arrive until after the Galaxy S26 series, possibly pushing its release into late 2025 or beyond.

Galaxy Ring 2 Could Launch After Galaxy S26 Series in 2026

Sources close to the development suggest the Galaxy Ring 2 could launch no earlier than early 2026. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 series during its annual Galaxy Unpacked event early next year. The company may choose to introduce the Galaxy Ring 2 alongside that flagship lineup or after it. Since the device is still under development, Samsung appears to be refining its design and performance features before announcing a release date.

Samsung Plans Subtle Hardware Changes for Better Wearability

While the Galaxy Ring 2 is not expected to receive major overhauls, Samsung may introduce several subtle design changes. The company could reduce the ring’s form factor to make it more compact and comfortable. A slightly slimmer profile and better ergonomics might help users wear the device for longer periods. Cosmetic tweaks to the design could enhance visual appeal, but the overall look may remain similar to the current generation due to the size limitations of smart rings.

Improved Battery Life and Smarter Health Features Expected

One of the biggest upgrades in the Galaxy Ring 2 is expected to be its battery life. Reports suggest the new model could last more than seven days on a single charge. Samsung might also include more accurate health-tracking sensors and introduce artificial intelligence features to analyze user data more efficiently. These improvements could lead to better insights into sleep, heart rate, and other key wellness indicators. Samsung is focusing on making the device more efficient, offering better performance without compromising battery life.

First-Gen Galaxy Ring Laid the Groundwork for Success

Samsung launched the first Galaxy Ring during the Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2024. It later arrived in India in October with a starting price of ₹38,999. The original model offered nine size options (5 to 13) and three color choices—Titanium Black, Titanium Gold, and Titanium Silver. Weighing just 2.3g and measuring 7.0mm wide (for size five), it marked Samsung’s entry into the smart ring market. With the second generation in the works, Samsung aims to build on that foundation with improved features and longer battery life in a similarly compact design.
