In his benchmark video, Forza Horizon 5 saw the most dramatic uplift. Running at 1200p on Medium settings with a 17 W TDP. The game improved from 66 FPS to 88 FPS post-update. This jump highlights just how impactful the new driver is when paired with the handheld’s Intel Core Ultra 258V processor and integrated GPU.
Other titles also benefited from the update, although detailed before-and-after comparisons weren’t provided. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 ran at around 60 FPS on a mix of medium and low settings. Marvel Rivals averaged about 95 FPS at 25 W TDP, with XeSS set to Performance mode. Cyberpunk 2077, known for its demanding requirements, hit over 80 FPS on average at 25 W TDP with XeSS Frame Generation enabled.
These gains show that Intel’s ongoing driver optimization for Arc graphics is starting to pay off for mobile gamers. The MSI Claw 8 AI+ becomes a much more attractive option for portable gaming. Especially for those interested in AAA performance on the go.
BIOS and MSI Center Updates Extend Battery Life Across TDP Levels
Alongside the graphics performance boost, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ has also received updates to its BIOS and MSI Center software. ETA Prime highlighted that these updates improve battery efficiency, although no pre-update comparisons were made.
In battery life tests, the handheld was set to standard conditions: 50% screen brightness, 60 Hz refresh rate, auto fan mode, and active WiFi, Bluetooth, and RGB lighting. Under these settings, the device delivered solid runtimes based on different TDP configurations:
- At 8 W TDP: 8 hours and 40 minutes
- At 17 W TDP: 3 hours and 40 minutes
- At 25 W TDP: 2 hours and 20 minutes
These results suggest that the Claw 8 AI+ can offer flexibility for both casual and intensive use cases. Whether users want extended battery life for light gaming or peak performance for demanding titles, the system now handles both scenarios more effectively.
