quickutilities – Aaeon has introduced the Up Squared Pro TWL, a powerful new single-board computer (SBC) designed to handle demanding tasks. Unlike the Raspberry Pi 5, which uses ARM processors, this SBC runs on Intel technology. It features Intel Core processors from the N-series, specifically the N355, N250, and N150 models, which provide a range of performance options for different applications. The board comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 64GB of onboard eMMC storage. Both of which are soldered directly to the board for reliability and speed.

Advanced Connectivity and Storage Options
The Up Squared Pro TWL offers multiple connectivity choices that support high-speed data transfer and expandability. It includes three USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports with two of them being USB Type-C. Enabling the connection of external storage devices and peripherals with fast data rates. The board features three M.2 slots. With two (M.2 2280 and M.2 2230) connected via PCIe 3.0, ideal for SSDs and other expansion cards. The third slot (M.2 3052) supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 often used for cellular modems. Which provides additional communication options for IoT or remote deployments.
Support for Multiple 4K Displays and Camera Integration
This single-board computer excels in multimedia capabilities. It can simultaneously drive up to three 4K displays through various ports, including HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort 1.2, and DisplayPort 1.4a. The USB Type-C port can also be used for video output, adding versatility for multi-monitor setups. Additionally, a MIPI-CSI camera interface is available, allowing users to connect compatible cameras for imaging or computer vision projects. These features make the board suitable for advanced digital signage, surveillance, or multimedia processing tasks.
Robust Wired Networking and Legacy Interface Support
The Up Squared Pro TWL offers robust wired networking with two Ethernet ports, each supporting speeds up to 2.5Gbps. These connections ensure reliable, high-bandwidth networking for industrial, commercial, or home environments where wireless connectivity may be limited or undesirable. For legacy device integration, the board includes support for RS232, RS422, and RS485 communication protocols accessible via a dedicated header. This makes the SBC compatible with a wide range of industrial sensors, actuators, and equipment.
Flexible Operating System Support and Target Markets
Aaeon designed the Up Squared Pro TWL to support multiple operating systems, including Windows 11 and various Linux distributions. This flexibility allows developers to choose the best software environment for their project needs. The board’s powerful Intel processors combined with extensive connectivity and multimedia features. Position it as a competitive alternative to ARM-based SBCs like the Raspberry Pi 5. Although Aaeon has not yet announced pricing, the Up Squared Pro TWL targets industrial automation, IoT, multimedia processing, and embedded computing markets looking for a high-performance and versatile platform.
